I'm just messing with you.

Nice to see Plymouth got another kid to report rather than head to the NCAA. The better players continue heading to the CHL which makes it the greatest developmental league in the world.

On a side note, not sure why I thought this, but I thought Dumba was bigger.

Too bad they didn't finish a spot or two worse. That 5th pick reminds me of Ottawa last year picking 6th. Looks like it may work out with Zibanejad, but at the same time, thinking if we picked 2 spots up we'd have Larssen is something I can't help but wonder about. It'll be a quality pick regardless though but I guess we'll see if it addresses what their needs are.

Hartman is a similar case as Boucher last year. Something to do with high school, so when they finished their USNTDP tour, they would have had to go to a USHL team for a year before the NCAA. Which is a step down and a real road block in development, IMO.

And yea, Dumba's about Subban's size. 5'11. SHould be 6'0 when he's full grown.

If I'm Toronto, I see what's available at 5, hope to god Galchenyuk or Grigo falls. If not, I try to parlay that 5th Overall into another young center (Strome? Schenn?), unlikely to happen but worth exploring...

Then take the chance, to move down a spot or two, recoup another 2nd and take Faksa.

I still don't get this mentality.

Toronto has the highest percentage of "local" players in their system. Look at Morrison's history as head scout, and he's pretty OHL focused.

Even Tyler Biggs, who's American born, comes from an Ontario family and spent parts of his childhood living in Toronto where his dad's from.

I think for Hartman is was something different-- to do with age. I know he was trying to fast track his schooling. I think he started a year behind or something.

I wasn't serious.... the Leafs will go after a player like Galchenyuk and rush him into the NHL next season.

A kid I know from here got stuck in the CJHL on a team with absolutely terrible coaching. He was blessed with ridiculous wheels and sick hands and was contacted by several teams in the O who had him lined up in the 2nd round but told those teams his intentions and ended up being drafted by the Sting who didn't even contact him to let him know until two days before the rookie camp and were basically like "are you coming?" Yeah, not much of a sale job. Anyways, he was going to the NCAA and wanted to get better as a player and the particular team he was on wasn't helping so he went the USHL route for a year, and it didn't take him long to come back to the CJHL to play for another team. Kids super smart as well which is why he picked the school he did where he now attends.

Is it another Deveraux Heshmatpour? Kid is actually 30 years old? Do you remember that rumor/story?
Reminds me of another thing I chuckled about. Do you remember Jenner on Pymouth? I thought he looked like he was 25 year old.

I don't think the Islanders would deal him unless they were getting a lot more than another top 5 pick. He's going to be a big-time stud. It seems like Strome has become a much better goal scorer this year along with being a top playmaker.

As much as I'd love to have two picks in a row in the top-5, I can't see the Isles swapping #5 for Strome. We are desperate for immediate help on this team, and trading a prospect drafted a year ago for one drafted this year only tacks on an extra year of development for a higher-end prospect.

Also, what's the deal with Galchenyuk? Sucks nobody got to see him play much this season. Is he the real deal or was his great season last year more a product of playing with Yakupov? Clearly I have no idea considering I see approximately 0 to 0 OHL games down here on the Islander, per year.

My thoughts are in the same wishing well. Faksa would be awesome, i actually perfer him over Forsberg. Sounds like we have a better chance at Grigorenko than Galchenyuk however

Galchenyuk and Yakupov are both gifted players and feed off of one another's creativity. They don't require each other to be excellent. The biggest issue with Galchenyuk, in my opinion, is that he missed a full year of development and he had the "bad knee injury" and with limited exposure to him at the end of the year, people tend to forget just how talented he was. Long term projection? Thats the part people would worry, and I'd say concern is legit but so is his skill level. All the attributes you'd want in a potential top line center.

On a related note for you, I see no reason to deal Strome outside of the fact he was a douche in the now famous "Connor Crips" Erie game. A game that I ended up actually respecting Andrew Aggozino... which if you knew me is impossible to fathom.

One. I don't think NYI swaps Strome for 5, but the Leafs could reasonabley add to the pot with something. Only way it happens, for sure. But it might be something Toronto could look at.

Two. To me, Galchenyuk is the real deal. Went first overall in the OHL Draft for a reason. He's as skilled as Yakupov without the insane wheels. As long as the missed development time and injury don't affect him more than I think, he should be a good 80 pt center.
